Extension Springs

Purpose: Springs to replace rubber tubing for strength exercises.

Application: Spring will be attached attachment point while force is applied to the spring.

Configuration: Single spring or combination of springs

Neutral Length: 23" - 24". All springs are the same length

Typical extension for each repetition: twice the neutral length with additional extension of 2.3 x neutral length

Safety factor: Safety stop before failure at an extension of 2.4 x neutral length

Number of repetitions with short intervals between repetitions: 10-20.

Number of cycles over life of the spring: 10,000+

Loads: Maximum load is reached at near Maximum extension.

Rate of Increase of load during repetition: Constant rate from zero to maximum load

Maximum loads:

Spring 1: 25 lbs.

Spring 2: 35 lbs.

Spring 3: 50 lbs.

Spring 4: 60 lbs.

I don't know anything about spring design. I hope someone here might be able to design a configuration that will meet the criteria.

Questions:

1. Is there a spring that can be manufactured, or that is available, that will meet he criteria? A problem that I see is the spring has to extend to over twice its neutral length.

2. Is there another product that will meet the criteria?
